|
|
I've followed the directions in the tb_converter.exe readme. I've uploaded the version.txt, update.xml, .cab file, and .xpi file on the server through and they are available through an https:// URL. They are showing up when I browse to them directory and they are showing the updated toolbar version.
However, the Firefox version of the toolbar will not update to the new version. It shows the older version. When I manually go to the toolbar and select "Update Toolbar" it just say, "No new updates".
Is there something else that needs to be done to get this to work?
Thanks |

Firefox browser checks for updates once a week usually.
Anyway, it is possible to override this behaviour and make updates whenever you want.
This is available as a custom update solution at additional cost. |

Ok, we might do that once we finish purchasing our license and dev hours.
However, I would still imagine that the "Update Toolbar" button should work. When a user selects that option Firefox looks for the latest version but doesn't find it even though the update.xml is available and readable.
Is there something I need to do to get the manually 'Update Toolbar' to work? |

Please, try to go Tools->Extensions and click Find Updates button.
This way it is possible to update toolbars manually.
Manual Update is intended for IE toolbar. |

|
|
So I'm testing in FireFox 3.5.5 and it has a Tools->Add-Ons then 'Find Upates'
When I click on it seems to be looking for updates but it never updates to the newer version of the toolbar. Is this suppose to work?
Also, in regards to the 'Update Toolbar' button, since it's not supported in FF can I hide or remove it for Firefox but still show it in IE? |

Without your .cab and .xpi we cannot investigate the issue in detail.
For IE and Firefox you may create different toolbars. No problem. |

Ok, I got it working. I thought I would post some of the things I did to get it to work for others reading the thread.
1) make sure you settings Update URL ends with a '/'
2) Make sure you clear your FF cache. Sometimes it doesn't update but after I clear my cache it picks up my update.xml just fine. |
